My speedo is reading zero. I had a bent paddle wheel so assumed it was the reason-bunk bent it. Got new paddle wheel and still nothing. I have 12 v to it and it drops when spinning. Is it possible the speedo needs replaced? Malibu has it for a whopping 900$ but would like to test something before that. Bales said trace signal wire but it is all buried under distributor and everything else that would need to remove soo many things. Any thoughts or knowledge would be helpful.

Does it freely spin? I suspect it is because you said ithe voltage changes. But if you have an oscilloscope or a neighbor who does. look to see that the spinning magnet is doing its thing. If you know anyone with a axis or malibu you can test the sending unit by taking it ot their boat and plugging it in and spinning the sensor wheel.
It must come down to good trouble shooting to try to locate the fault. ANd I hope you don't need the $900 gauge

Yes. The new and old one both spin and have correct voltage drop while spinning like the bakes wiring schematic show on their site. I only have volt meters unfortunately but the paddle wheels appear to be not the problem. I don’t know anyone with similar boats either. I guess the dealer is in my future
