I have a 2010 A22 anybody had issues with their deck joint? Since I'm not the original owner Axis won't touch it, they say the hull warranty isn't transferable.

Yep, I sure did on my 2011 A20. I had the same scenario, purchased used with no transferable warranty. I called up my local Malibu dealer and explained the situation and that the next year they changed the warranty to become transferable for the hull. They spoke with the malibu rep and agreed to supply the parts the to fix the issue, but not the labor. The good news is that it's much stronger than factory now.

Thanks for the reply! I figured I can't be the only one. What parts did they supply? Did you do the work yourself? Did you redo the joint all the way around the boat or just the side that failed?

My plan as of now is to clamp it together and drill trough holes every 6 inches or so in the joint. Then tap the bottom or hull side of the seam, drill out the top slightly larger and countersink, then cut stainless machine screws so they go in flush. To complete I will run a good bead of Plexus MA310 on the seam, then screw it together as I go.

Anybody have thoughts or think I'm insane?

My father in law is a competitive sailor and he says he taps fiberglass all the time and thinks this is the way to go.

Put the plexus between the 2 parts before you clamp them together.

Rough them up with 80 grit really good on the surfaces and clean with acetone before application.

Just curious, what made you take the run rail off and inspect it? Was it noticeable with everything installed?

I have a 12’ and recently pulled my run rails off, but didn’t think to inspect the seams.

I don’t think your crazy but as previous person said, glue the seam before clamping.
