I just bought a Perko Flush Valve today. I am hoping to connect it to my main intake water line and use the garden hose connection to help winterize the engine and heater later this fall.

I know that a garden hose with water pressure can be hooked up to the valve for flushing out the engine. Does this Perko Flush Valve work for connecting to a five gallon container of antifreeze that is not under pressure?

What are your thoughts?

Has anyone installed a Perko Flush Valve for winterizing their boat?

No but I'm considering installing one for future use to make winterizing easier. Please post pictures/notes on your install.

I still want to install a heat exchanger and only have to drain one plug and the exhaust

I put in a DIY flush kit and a I drain the block when winterizing. But when I had a hose connected I can see the hose flexing in as the impeller is trying to suck more water than the hose can supply. As long as the valve doesn't allow air to leak you shouldn't have a problem sucking antifreeze. Here's a video showing essentially the same thing - https://youtu.be/5c_fb_zc9J8.

I forgot to post a picture of the Perko Flush valve and installation. I hope to test out the hose connection and winterization in a few weeks. I want to get 1-2 more days on the water first.
