Hi, I recently surfed behind an 2002 malibu VLX that was weighted right and the wave was amazing. I have a 2011 A22 and that thing killed the wave that I am getting out of my boat. I know I can get more out of my boat if I weight it right though. I have the stock hard ballast tanks, the plug and play, and the floating wedge.

My question is what more should I put in the boat for ballast that will fit under the seats (if possible). What brand and how have people weighted the boat to get a better surf wave?

Thanks for any feedback.

what plug and play do you have? What size is your rear ballast bags?

I know on some Malibu boats we would also throw a tube sac under the seats. that would put an additional 400lbs under the seats and then the people on top of the seats would add an additional 6-800 lbs on the left side.

for surfing.. most axis boats are using 750-1100 bags in the rear. Sumo 900s are a good choice also.

Admin, what size bags would you recommend for a 14 A22 with surfgate for the best surf wake?

With surfgate... I would do the 750 bfi or the 900 sumo.

check with DatTexas he has 900 sumo bags in his 14 A22.

but I am seeing more and more people go with 750bfi bags. you will probably need a 2315 or 2419 prop if you load the boat down with the 750s in the rear plus the nose bag.

The 900 sumos don't fill all the way. I have them. No problems out of them though. I mainly wakeboard so they are a little overkill for me.
