Anyone have any inside info. on this. Its was just announced but I cannot find any real information on it other then its a filter for ballast. I am a little paranoid about contaminating my cabin lake because some of the lakes around my house have zebra mussles and milfoil. (see link below)

A raw water strainer is for trapping larger debris. It won't get particles small enough to stop invasive species spread.

How fine does the screen need to be? The one I posted has a pretty fine screen on it.

The zebra mussel filter is a specialized product. A simple screen won't do. You need to catch tiny organisms.

I've been searching around trying to find a specific size with no luck. The best I could find was that the zebra mussel larvae are "microscopic" so certainly no screen is going to stop them.

I little more information is starting to trickle out about the mussel mast'r filter. Concepts sounds promising but I wonder what kind of effect it will have on fill/drain times. I did not expect it to filter while filling AND draining.
