Post subject:  Running only a pair of Rev 8s or Rev 10s - pics please!

I've been searching and found a few threads on the Rev 10s. Most though were in combination with a 410 or something else. I'm looking for feedback from anyone that is only running a pair of Rev 8s or a pair of Rev 10s only. These would be powered by a WS HT-4 amp giving me 300w RMS to each. Mainly want clear and enjoyable music at 70-80 feet back while riding.

Please let me know your thoughts, and in particular looking for pictures of your setup...like the idea of the Rev 10s, but not sure if they will be too big (don't want to tower cluttered or take away too much headroom). Also not sure the amp will be quite enough (another amp not an option).

They are big and will occasionally be in the way but they are hard not to notice and well worth it, if you get the amp set up right they will sound good on 300, the WS amps are a little underrated, I run a syn4 and tuned it on an o-scope to 430 watts and they sound great while riding, a friend of mine has 2 rev 10's on his tige on a PPI amp pushing 310 watts tuned and they sound good too, I was skeptical dropping that much cash on 2 speakers and an amp but after using them I wish I'd done it sooner!!

Those are the Rev 10s, correct? Seems to be the most popular choice as I haven't been able to find anyone on here with the 8s.

Keep the pics/info coming please, need to make the call this week.

If you get the quick release clamp be sure to remove the bolt and taper the last two threads, if you don't they will get mashed in the radius of the clamp and tear up the threads the first time you try to remove them, I caught this on my buddies speakers and luckily we didn't damage anything, someone on wakeworld just went through this problem, I tapered mine before I ever installed them and have had them on and off 30+ times with no issues

Haha. I was actually looking for some pics that I thought I had. I'll try to get some up. Boats at the marina but I'll try to stop by tomorrow and grab some. I dig the 8s. I was torn between the 8s and 10s as well. I went with a pair of 8s because my plan was to eventually add a second pair and I wanted as much head room as I could. I'm 6'2". After getting the 8s on I was so happy with how they sounded that I just haven't got around to picking up a second pair. I may add a pair of Icon 8s instead for surfing. If I were to do it again I'd probably go with a single pair of the 10s. Having just the two out to the far end of the tower (like Walters setup) gives you plenty of clearance when moving around the boat and stepping in from the sun deck.

I have rev 10s and I love them!! They sound awesome once you get them tuned! I wouldn't change them for anything.

The one pic shows head room. I'm 5'8" and I can walk under them. You just gotta watch out getting into and out of the boat!

Walter -- did you build that custom "tray" ceiling for your tower in your garage? too funny!

I did, there was a bunch involved, I had to restructure the ceiling supports, move a wall, jackhammer the floor in the laundry room, move the plumbing for my washer and dryer, build a new attic access hole and then I redid all the drywall in the garage, it was part of a kitchen remodel that I did and just kind of threw In the garage and water well makeover at the same time, I figured while the house is thrashed I may as well fix everything, the boat stays cleaner in the front garage than the metal building, and the temperature is a little more regulated. The truck will have a new brick shop in the back yard here in a month.
