2012 Axis A22
Popping sound coming from engine. See below for description.

Only happens when boat is pushed up past 40 mph. Usually somewhere between 40-45 mph.
Sound has no specific pattern.... may pop twice within about 10 seconds and may only pop once about every 30 seconds. No rhythm or pattern at all.
Pop sound seems to be coming from engine compartment. Opened panels and took out tray and ran boat and almost certain its coming from engine.
Popping sound sounds like a cap gun going off. Not a deep sounding pop but rather like a cap gun or someone snapping their fingers extremely loud or maybe a loud clap from the hands.

Oil pressure and engine temp all normal. No engine lights coming on.

Set at landing tonight and put in idle and pushed it to 5K rpm for about 45 seconds and no popping sound happened. Only seems to be happening when engine is engaged and we are moving.

No ballast weight being run.

Any ideas?
Thanks

What RPM are you at? 40 MPH is not descriptive of what the engine is doing and prop dependant.

Cant recall exactly but believe it was somewhere between 4,000 and 4,500 RPM. That's why I took it to 5,000 in idle. Seems to only happen when there is torque on the engine.
Dealer suggested checking the 1. Engine Mounts 2. Key Prop 3. Prop shift coupler.
Haven't had a chance to get back up there yet.
