So last fall I purchased an Axis FAE, planned on installing this spring on my 2016 T-23. Because of concerns with factory warranty I decided to let the dealer install it. Figured it was about a 30 minute job, no big deal. The dealer just called and said they can’t install it on the boat while it’s in getting ‘summerised’ because it’s a very involved three or four hour job!
1. If I install it will it void my warranty on the engine?
2. Is this really a 3 to 4 hour job?

Thanks

I just installed FAE on my 2015 A20 about 3 weeks ago. I would imagine it would be a similar project. If you are in any way handy, you can do it. It’s not hard at all. Follow the directions and take the measurements it tells you to.

A couple things I would recommend-
1- remove the swim platform. It’s really easy to do you’ll need someone to help you. It’s heavy for one person
2- don’t forget any of the washers! When you tighten the bolt or nut will easily dig into the metal of the bracket
3- don’t tighten the nylon washers down until you are 100%
4- be careful installing the adapter piece that replaces the flapper. Don’t strip the screws w a drill.

Good luck! I’d guess you can do it w 3-4 beers and 2-3 hrs.

I have noticed a slight decrease in mileage. Doesn’t affect our lake days. I can still make it on a tank for a full day of boarding and 6-10 adults in the boat. The noise reduction is fantastic.

Does installing it myself do anything to the factory warranty? I have 4 years left and don’t really want to lose coverage over the install.

If you remove the factory muffler you will probably see a little performance increase.

On the factory surf pipe option it is removed because of excessive back pressure.

Do you know if there are any good videos on the muffler removal process?

In regards to the warranty. I’m not sure if it would void anything. I would check with Axis.
