I’m looking for opinions on adding bow weight to a 2017 a22. Probably 300 lbs. the rest of the boat is full pnp. We surf most of the time. Don’t cruise around too much.

Opinions?

6 50lb leadwake bags under your playpen bow cushion.

That’s my plan. Just looking for feedback from people that have done it. Ie does it get too nose heavy when you bring 10 of your closest friends? Does it change how it trailers? Etc.

I had a 2016 A20 that I did this with except I just spread them around the bow cushions since the A20 is just full playpen seating. At the end of the day before I put it back on the trailer I just pulled the bags back to cabin area and spread them around for towing purposes. I never left 300 extra pounds of tongue weight while towing. I never had 10 of my closest friends on the boat but people can move around all day, if you did start to feel bow heavy you can just drain your 400lb bow sac and keep the lead up front.

I have a 15' A22. sometimes I'll ride on fresh water with everything full, wedge down, two 600 lb sacs in the rear PnP, a 500 lb front PnP (doesn't fill a full 500) and two 400 lb sacs on top of the bow seats, with 100-200 lbs of lead spread on the floor.

I also usually only ride with three people, so if I'm stacking 8+ in the boat then I will reduce my ballast weight.

My daily setup with 3 people riding on salt water is everything full, wedge down, rear 600 PnPs full, front 500 PnP full, 400 lb sac under the middle bow cushion, and 350 lb of lead bags pushed up towards the front sac on the floor.

If you're running big bags in the back or a lot of people, then you will need a lot of front weight, just be careful when you're turning around to pick up a surfer because it's easy to take a roller over the nose

Cheaper and easier to do the lead. But I do love having my reversible pump and triangle bag. Different gen boat, but I've got the 1,000 bow triangle in my 12 A20. I run way over 300 lbs in there and it is no different to manage then when I fill up my tanks/pnp. Quick connection point so I don't have a hose always in the bow and I can always fold up the bag and toss it in the truck or rear compartments if I have a big crew.
Would lead users just throw the lead in the bed of their truck and leave it there between uses?

So is you pump permanently mounted with just a quick connect for the sack?

I run 200lbs lead extra in the bow and a 400lbs Sac in the walkway of my t23 with 1100’s rear wave is perfect.

I run 500lbs from tower forward in random places. I have to keep my rear bags full to get it back on the trailer on most ramps. Once the eye bow hook is hooked up I start to drain the rears. I can do it without the rears full but is a pain in the butt. Other than that does not affect normal boating and we always run a big crew.

Yes, because the A boats don't have the recessed panel like the T boats I have my tube come up through one of the cup holders in the bow. I can disconnect it so that there is only a couple of inches of tube in the cup holder if I want people up there. It is really rare for me to use the cup holder in the bow, I don't think I've ever had two drinks up there so no big loss.
I attach the 2' section of tubing via quick connect (Fly High) and the reversible fills or drains the 1000 lb triangle before my 650 arrow can do the same via aerators. Got a spare bow ballast switch cover (2012 had rocker switches) so everything looks stock.
