Post subject:  Too much water in the bilge area

Lately I have been getting a lot of water in the bilge area after a day out on the lake. My first guess is the drip seal has become a pour seal....which I need to investigate to confirm. When I mean "a lot", I mean it was to the point where surfing was struggling at normal weight. It drained for 30 minutes straight after pulling the plug. I would normally look at the ballast system too but we used the boat for tubing the day before with the same results. The ballast wasn't used during tubing. Any suggestions beyond the drip seal?

Dang man that would probably be 75 gallons of water at least if it drained for 30 min. Did you open the engine hatch and see how much water was in it?

Im currently tracking down a leak too. I took out the floor to look while wife drove to try and find a leak but its still a mystery. I wouldnt rule out the ballast system since there are a lot of through hull fittings, unions, and barb connections that are below the water line.

Could check exhaust hoses and where they pass through hull, raw water intake, the hoses that lead from there to the engine circ pump. I hope to find mine before winter but have almost given up hope. Good luck.

The drip seal has been on my mind for a while. I am surprised it is gushing that much. I will check the next time I am out.

I'm also trying to track down a leak. It only happens when i full up my bags, but I have checked them and only found a small rip in the bag. Where is the drip seal? Would water come in more when the boat is fully weighted down?
On top of that, my bilge pump won't pump out automatically, I have to manually turn it on.

I thought I had a ballast leak issue but just got home from vacation and found big cracks in the hull and the hull is buckled when on the trailer so guess my season is done

dezul, is something wrong with your bilge pump, or is it running constantly too?

Not sure. It is going to be on my list of items to check when I investigate the water leaking issue.

I just replaced the front bilge pump on my 2014 and was surprised to find the "always hot" wire was not. I still have to trace mine out to see what the issue is. I already bought a replacement for my rear pump too thinking the float was bad. But my guess is the same "always hot" wire is not hot for the rear bilge either. So make sure you check the hot wire before assuming your pump is bad.
