Hi everyone. This is my first of what I hope is many posts in the future. We are in the process of ordering our first Axis. We have always had Supra's in the past, got into pontoons for a little while but now want to get rid of the "mini van" and get back to an inboard again. Had a little sticker shock when pricing out the new ones. Even though I have and still like Supra the prices and the fact they no longer make a 20Ft or under made us start looking again. We ran across Axis and while the price is still considerable higher then our last Supra we definitely like the boats looks a lot. My question is has anyone experienced a difference between running a single tracking fin and ordering the second one. My dealer doesn't feel a 20ft boat needs the second one so I'm not sure what to do. I have always had a least 2 and sometimes 3 in the past but that was on a center engine mounted inboard. Any help would be great.
Thanks

Welcome!

From what I have researched and my experience with my A20, it handles great and doesn't need a second fin. It's pretty rare to see it added even on the larger Axis boats. These boats handle really well. I would say demo but you really don't need to with an A20. It simply doesn't need it and wouldn't be worth the extra cost in my opinion.

Oh and by the way, my '13 A20 with less than 180 hours is listed for sale in the classifieds. Just let me know if you are interested in going the used route or have any other questions. The A20 is a great boat and throws a huge wake, you won't be disappointed.

You'll be fine with one fin. Axis uses a pretty large single fin compared to my Moomba that had 2 small fins. My A22 had a single but I did order the 2nd fin when I built my A24.

The axis fins are much larger than on most other brands. I have a single one on the A22 and have never wished I had another. Handling is great.

Same here on my A22. Single fin with no issue. I am a big beast too. The gf complains I pull the boat a little but it is a lot less than my last inboard.

600' is plenty of room to 180 with ease. On the Brazos River in Waco, Tx we (as well as other inboards) turn 180 in less than 150' from shore to shore width of the river. It's not for the timid and only those who have seen the river drained low to know what the river bed is like will do it. With an 80' rope in some places on the river you can touch overhanging trees on both shores. It's sketchy at times but it's always butter.
