Over the weekend will I was surfing the driver turned around and didn't get the bow raised in time and took on a roller and within 30 seconds the boat was gone. The recovery company will be out tomorrow morning to retrieve the boat. It's been under water for 4 days already. I guess my question is, will the boat be a total loss or are they going to try and fix it.

Damn, sorry to here that. I, nor anyone I know, has ever sunk a boat and I've owned a boat ever since I was 17yrs old (now 42). Keep us posted as someone might be able to learn from this. Not to add insult to injury but a properly taught boat driver never should have to drive over their own rollers, especially surf rollers when turning around.

Ya I have been around boats from the time I was 15 now 38. First time I have ever seen one go down. I just sat on my surf board and watched in shock.

Do you normally have the boat driver turn around into your own rollers or did this driver just not know to NEVER do that? Costly mistake. Couldn't imagine watching my boat go under

The strange thing is I ride goofy so surf on the right side. He made a slow long turn to the left. I'm still in shock on how it happened.

I see. I teach my drivers to come off throttle and spin in place before returning to the fallen rider. I can totally visualize your accident. Those rollers, especially when doing those wide turns can build to the point to where they break over like small ocean waves.

Sorry to here that. What was your weight configuration? New to the A 22 family, with the pickle fork is this easy to do? I never really worried about that in my 04 X2, when I dropped a surfer I just backed off to neutral let the waves pass and idled around. But with the crazy amount of weight these boats take on I can see how easy this could happen.
Any tips or advice you can give so no one else suffers same fate would be appreciated.

If the roller was from his own boat, well..I agree, inexperienced driving could be to blame. But that really sucks and I'm sorry to hear it. We were out last weekend, also surfing, a friend of mine was riding and my brother was driving. The rider fell and we started to turn around like normal then all of a sudden we took a pretty big roller over the bow. The roller was from another boat that had passed and it got to us as soon as he turned, really bad timing. We were also listed pretty heavy. Thankfully it wasn't worse. Was it an Axis or another boat?
