Hey Guys,

I have a 2010 vandall A22 with the upgraded stereo. Was thinking about moving the sub from the dry enclosure to under the dash so I can get better sound. Was also thinking about getting another amp to power the sub on its own and an Equalizer so I can turn the tower speakers up more while riding. Has anyone done something similar? If so what amp would you go with to power the sub? Any tips on building a sub box to fit under the dash?

Thanks in advance

Get ahold of matt @ axis, I have seen pics of a new footwell piece that they are going to use in the 12 models that have a cutout for a 12" sub, as for an amp I'm using the orion cobalt 500.1 and it sounds really nice, I hijacked this picture from one of chattwake's posts on another forum, Ill take it down if you want me to, but this is a bad ass piece that I want for my boat when it gets released......

We have an 2011 and did the following...

we have four tower speakers and have an amp to power those
a serperate amp to power the in obat speakers, head unit, etc
and a third amp to power the sub..which we installed under the dash and had a custom enclosure made which turned out awesome..it has a vinyl /plastic front with the axis logo molded in. I can post pics tonight when I get home. Moving the sub makes a huge difference in sound.
We also installed an EQ just under the dash.

Thanks for the info! I'm gonna get my dealer to order the footwell sub enclosure asap. I'll check out the orion cobalt 500 amp as well.

Wow, that is a nice enclosure wakewife. So does that cramp your leg room, or is there still plenty of space. Been thinking of doing the same. Just seems the base inside the compartment cramps the bass, and if i move it..it will give me room to get another amp

It did not take as much space as I thought it would...there is still plenty of leg room , even for extra tall people. Our 80 lbs dog loves to sleep in that spot and there is still enough room for my legs and feet. It definetly improves the sound to move it out from behind the seat....and having 3 amps helps a ton too. We will be taking that small piece of carpet and cutting it down to fit the new dimensions...the original snaps will still work for it.

unless that footwell is solid fiberglass, I don't see how it will stand up to a 10 or 12" speaker. Then you would have to run a freeair.

@ Wakewife- That looks awesome! Did you make it? Is there an enclosure inside and the front piece is removable? Details por favor!!

The dealer's stereo guy came and did it....there is an enclosure inside it sits in and the front piece is removeable with just a few screws. We took the sub from our other boat we were trading in (since it was a brand new sub) and used the same enclosure from that boat and put in under the dash in the axis...it fit nicely and then the dealer's stereo guy made the piece for the front to sit flush with the bulkhead wall...they had done it for a few other axis boats so they already knew it would work. It had held up really nicely even with the occasional kick or dogs laying up against it.
