Hey guy´s, i´m erik from Germany and I have a A22 with some colling problems. Somethimes the engine stops because the catalyst is getting to hot. Only the one at the "not-driver" side.
I have no idea how the water is flowing. can anybody explain the pictures? The arrow is what I think the water flows.

We think that the thermostat "heat-regulator" sometimes has a malfunction.

But why we have only problems on the one side of the engine at he catalyst as you can see in picture 1.

Thanks for helping

Erik

I would pull the raw water impeller and at least inspect it if not replace it. I think the manual says to replace every 2 yrs. Do you have a strainer / flush kit? Clean the strainer and flush with fresh water. Then if you are still having over heating problems look for anything that could block water flow on that side.

Thanks for your reply.

The Impeller is a new one.
The next thing I will do, as you say, is looking at this side if anything blocks the flow. It´s the only posibility I think, because it´s only on this side. If it was the impeller it would be on both.

I have a 15 a22 and had similar issues when I first got it. PCM was very helpful... I ended up working with the PCM service rep and our dealer to get it resolved (believe they updated the ECU). If you PM me I'll send you who I spoke to at PCM.
This motor also tends suck up grass and get clogged much easier then my previous boats. Every summer when the lake would get full of grass my boat would start to get hot after running for a couple days. I'd have to back flush the cooling system manually and grass would come out the bottom of the boat. this engine doesn't have a strainer... at least I couldn't find one. I ended up installing an inline sea strainer (super easy) and my problem was solved.

If everyone did this their lives would be so much easier.
