If you just need to improve drain times you do not need to take off fittings. The inlet is the same size 3/4. The output of the pump is larger 1-1/8.

My 12' has all the 1 1/8" hoses and tank fittings, etc. I also have the SS thru hill fittings. You might want to try pulling your tank fittings to see if you could swap them out. I wouldn't just go off of what a Malibu rep says.
