Ditto on the oil filter. The housing the oil filter is attached to will bend. I ended up getting a hammer and with the rubber hangle, had to pry against the frame and with an oil wrench was able to finally give it a hard quick pull and it finally broke loose. Dam, they have a rubber seal and really only need to be hand tight or just a little better. Get 'em kingranch !!!

I to experienced the dreaded 1st oil change on a new 2014 boat. Can't believe how tight the oil filter was on. Questioned the direction I was turning the filter several times, always with the conclusion I was going the right way. Approx. 2 hours later, thankful the filter didn't crack, a little praying, I was finally able to get it to budge by applying a combination wrench to my ratchet creating a cheater bar for leverage. Unbelievable.

I always have problems with my oil filter and i don't over tighten them and i have all the tools to get them off( i work at car shop). its the stupid filter relocator bracket, that bends and kills your leverage. i always have to get the wifey to put her foot on it while i remove it to get the leverage.

Same problem on my first oil change... my impatience led to a gouged filter housing... Need to find a machine shop to mill it down for me. I can't find a filter pedestal on its own without the kit. My drain hose also does not quite reach the drain hole, I don't even think it would fit through it due to a random bump in the fiberglass.

Grief.

This is what I use to get the filter off. It works perfect.

Go to Home Depot and you can get some adapters and attach the drain hose to a pump. Easy peasy no mess.
